We are delighted to announce that The Living Room has secured a contract to provide Hertfordshire County Council's community-based drugs and alcohol rehabilitation programme until 2026. The win means that we can continue our service, which boasts some of the best success rates for treating adults suffering from drug and alcohol misuse as well as behavioural addictions.

Our chief executive, Adrienne Arthurs, said "This really is fantastic news for our staff, volunteers and, most importantly, the clients who rely on our life-saving counselling treatment. Continuity of service is vital for our community and this award from HCC means we can plan ahead."

This contract allows us to realise plans to extend our reach further. We will be joining forces with Relate, the UK's leading relationship support charity, and Family Lives, which supports parents and families in crisis, to form 'Families Living In Recovery'. Adrienne explains, "This new service will help us in our goal to break the family cycle of addiction. Not everyone can get to a daily treatment centre. Some people might need instant access to a counsellor or one-to-one counselling. We’re going to work with Relate and Family Lives to provide support to more people whose lives are being turned upside down because a loved one is struggling with addiction."

The new funding will help us with ambitions to expand our service with a third centre in Watford. “Ultimately, we want to extend our reach to anyone in Hertfordshire who needs to find recovery from addiction and stay abstinent,” said Adrienne. “This contract helps us do just that.”
