County and District Councillors throughout Hertfordshire have shown their appreciation for the good work The Living Room does throughout the community by donating £14,000 to the charity through their locality and local community budgets.

We put out an appeal to every councillor to make a contribution towards our service provision and the response has been beyond our expectations. Most councillors donated because they had constituents who have attended The Living Room and are in long term recovery as a result. Others did so in recognition of the contribution The Living Room makes to our wider society. For example, local and central government saves £4,640 for every client at The Living Room. Last year, 249  clients entered long-term recovery, which equates to £1,155,360 in social savings.

The names of all the councillors who have contributed from their budgets are now displayed at our centres in Stevenage and St Albans. Staff, volunteers and clients pass on their thanks to all of them.
