Friday 31st March 2023

From Friday 31st March we will no longer be running the Herts Hub, our dedicated online counselling platform for clients who haven't been able to attend one of our local hubs.

The Herts Hub began its life in 2020 in response to the pandemic and the first lockdown, when we had to switch our entire service to Zoom. It was funded with grants from The Postcode Lottery, Lloyds Bank Foundation, Collective Voice and the National Lottery.

We kept the online service going as clients gradually moved back to face-to-face counselling and at this stage we realised the hub could play an important, permanent role for clients who were not able to access one of our hubs because of issues around mobility, shielding, self-isolation and travel expenses.

So, thanks to funding from Hertfordshire County Council, we ran the Hertfordshire Hub as a four-day-a-week service from November 2021. Sadly, that funding period has now ended.

Rita Cooper, our Operations Manager, commented on the closure: "It is always a wonderful feeling to hear about the progress made by clients in their recovery from addiction. The fact that the project was able to help them and support their mental health is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team involved in the project."

"Although it is unfortunate that the project is closing, it is great to know that the clients were able to benefit from it while it lasted. Hopefully, the progress made by these clients will continue even after the project has ended."

We are so pleased that a third of our Herts Hub clients have successfully graduated, a third have found a place in one of our other hubs and a third have been referred to other agencies.

We would like to thank all the organisations that have funded the Herts Hub and, of course, all the counsellors who have dedicated so much time and effort to making it work.
