2nd April 2019

The Living Room is now open in Watford. Peter Taylor, the town's elected mayor, cut the ribbon on our newest centre on 1st April to mark its official opening. Peter joined our management and counselling teams, representatives of local charities, residents' associations and local councillors to launch the service at Meriden Community Hub.

"It's fantastic that The Living Room have set up a new centre in Watford. According to a recent study, Watford residents were found to be some of the most generous in the country and I'm sure they'll do all they can to help support The Living Room prosper in our town."

The Living Room in Watford will be open from Monday to Thursday, providing free day-time group therapy to people who suffer with any addiction and to family and carers. The centre will be lead by Laura Drane, who said: "I believe every town needs a Living Room. Addiction ruins and takes lives in areas such as this every day so it's essential that services such as ours are embedded in the local community, helping free people from their addiction and to find long term recovery."

Our support group for family and carers will run every Wednesday. "Our new Watford service will help us in our goal to break the family cycle of addiction. Family members and carers often suffer in silence as their loved-one's addiction takes control over their lives - they feel there's nowhere they can turn for help. That's no longer the case in Watford as we're now here to help," said Adrienne Arthurs, our Chief Executive.

We were delighted to be joined by so many local residents and dignitaries on the day. Special thanks goes out to Watford Community Housing and Meriden Residents Association, who have gone out of their way to make us feel at home at our new centre.

We are now taking referrals from local residents. You can book an appointment by calling 0300 365 0304. All calls are handled in strict confidence. Alternatively, please fill in our Enquiries Form.
