The aim of the Deputy role is to work with the Senior Manager to maximise sales and associated profits for donation to The Living Room. This is a voluntary position to support our Community Interest Company; registered as Revival (The Living Room) CIC No. 06611733, limited by guarantee. Responsibilities include: serving the community purpose of the CIC, attending and participating in Board Meetings approximately four times per year plus an Annual General Meeting and any relevant events (in person or virtually), participation in any sub-committees you choose, acting as the accountable mechanism for Revival CIC - responsible to The Living Room CIO and other funders, contribution to the strategic direction of the organisation, making decisions and committing to Diversity, Equality, Equity and Inclusion. Find out more Apply Charity Shop Retail Volunteer 14 The Glebe, Stevenage, SG2 0DJ – Main shop 13 The Glebe, Stevenage, SG2 0DL – Children’s shop 4 hours minimum - 30 hours per week Our charity shops raise much needed funds to support our service to be free to people that need it. We need people to volunteer a few hours each week or more to help us to do that and make a difference in the community. Our volunteers are the public face of our charity to people in the local community and they provide a welcoming and attractive environment. Our children’s shop is very busy selling to inquisitive little people as well as their parents and grand-parents. Our main shops sells wonderful quality items at very reasonable prices and a fast change-around. Volunteers will be involved in a range of duties under the guidance of our shop managers and senior shop manager e.g. assisting customers with queries and purchases, sorting and preparing stock ready for sale or recycling, tidying and cleaning and using the till. To be a volunteer, you don’t need any qualifications although if you have specific skills that might be useful, do make those known on your application. What we do need is reliability, a commitment to help regularly, to be friendly and want to work as part of a really inclusive team. You will need to be reasonably fit, but we will take into consideration any physical needs you may have. We will accept applications from anyone 16 and older and we support the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. We will provide you with an induction, training and support and you will be fully insured. We will give you a reference if you are looking to volunteer for a while until you have experience to look for paid employment – helpful if you want to improve your confidence when re-entering the job market. Saturday and Relief Manager - Charity Shop Location: 14 The Glebe, Stevenage, SG2 0DJ – Main shop / 13 The Glebe, Stevenage, SG2 0DL – Children’s shop Hours: 2 Saturdays per month 09:00 - 17:00 plus Ad Hoc 09:00 - 17:00, Monday to Saturday (8:45 start when covering the Children's Charity Shop) to cover. Salary: £9.30 per hour We require a Relief Shop Manager who will work 2 Saturdays per month on a rota; attend the monthly manager’s meeting and provide cover for other Shop Managers and the Senior Shop Manager for annual leave, sickness and training: usually there are a minimum of 5 days’ overtime per month available. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS 14-hour contract with overtime – holiday pay on a pro-rata basis. Organising volunteers and encouraging them to use their skills. Motivating teams to complete tasks. Health and safety responsibilities. Cash handling and cashing up. Stock sorting, preparing and stock display. QUALITIES You must have experience in retail and preferably in cash handling and banking. Friendly, personable and happy to work as part of a team. Some management experience will be an advantage. A local understanding of the community. Self-motivated.
