Role description

“I began work as a volunteer soon after the Revival Children’s shop opened in 2011. I wanted to do some voluntary work after retiring in 2009, and attending The Living Room family and friends group to learn how to cope with my son’s addictions. I am so grateful for the help and support we received as a family, and volunteering is just a small way to support the work at The Living Room. And I love to shop!”

“Volunteering at Revival has helped me grow as a person, giving me a sense of confidence and professional pride in my day to day life. I have learned new skills and improved on existing ones in a friendly and supportive environment. The managers are fun and easy to work for and the customers are always polite and talkative. All this, and I know that I am helping people recover from illness, are the reasons I remain a volunteer.”

As a recovering addict who stopped using with the help of The Living Room, I am currently working in paid employment part-time which enables me to also volunteer for the Revival shops. This gives me a strong sense of community spirit and a means by which I can continue to support the charity which saved my life. This, in turn, prevents me from isolating myself and helps me to contribute back to society.”

We accept most donations of goods, but unfortunately cannot take video tapes, large white goods, kitchen knives or television sets. Even if we cannot sell your items in our shops, we can recycle them for money, so even if you have very worn clothes to donate we welcome them!  For larger donations please come round the back of the shops and ring the bell on the back gate.
